After 100s of hours of research, I have scientifically determined which material is REAL Pink Floyd, and which material is basically just one member's solo album
Post Body

After extensive listening, research, consultation with experts, and mathematical modeling, I have determined which Pink Floyd is the most Pink Floyd Pink Floyd of all the Pink Floyd.

In performing this analysis I considered:

  • both the length and impact of contributions from each member

  • range of musical styling

  • level of innovation when compared to rock, blues, and experimental/progressive music of the time

  • average distance (in km) between each member of the band and Polly Samson at the time the album was both written and recorded

  • the intensity of Roger's daddy issues on a scale of 1 to 10, averaged over total recording days

  • whether or not they let Nick sing

  • the political and societal impact of the message or concept, as determined by record sales, position of the Doomsday Clock, and US DEFCON level.

  • the length of Rick's hair

  • relation to ancient ruins, if any

  • references to Syd

  • number of clearly not references to Syd despite every new person to /r/pinkfloyd thinking they are references to Syd

  • amount (total) each member spent suing other members

After crunching the numbers, I have determined that these 17 seconds are the Pink Floydest Pink Floyd of all the Pink Floyd, meaning they are the only Pink Floyd material worthy of being considered REAL Pink Floyd.

From here on out, to be most correct, you'll want to use the words Pink Floyd to refer to this material only, and use "Pink Floyd" (with the quotes) to refer to material that falls outside of these 17 seconds.

If you're speaking about "Pink Floyd" while face-to-face with another person, you may make the ""air quotes"" gesture with your fingers while saying "Pink Floyd," but it is not required, provided you roll your eyes, use a mocking tone full of derision, or similar.
