Recently just got a 1973 Chicago Coin Hee Haw pinball machine that I am trying to fix. So the solenoid that would engage the score wheel for player 1 would not spin the score even manually. Looked inside and noticed that there was a blockage stopping it from moving inside the solenoid.
I fixed it/made it possible for it to move. Additionally, when I got the machine a fuse was blown and Im pretty sure I know why thats happening.
So with that fixed I tried the starting sequence and the score wheel does not move, if I set it to zero manually it will start. Then if I trigger a points for that score wheel all the lights dim on the machine and if I hold it for half a second longer the fuse blows. Also I have a relay connected to the score wheel and solenoid and I think its related to the score reset but im not sure. One thing I noticed is the wheel in question has an extra wire/ pair of wires that the other score wheels even for other players do not have.
So overall what Im asking is where should I be looking if the solenoid is not engaging and triggering the solenoid results in a blown fuse.
