Playing for roughly 2 weeks now, from what I understand expeditions for the most part appear in places/towns you've been in. Sometimes I get expeditions with a little 'flower icon' next to it indicating the fruit came from a flower I made bloom.

But then other times, fruits appear to either spawn completely at random but are directed and located under a certain landmark or flower that I've visited at some point. I can't remember if I've planted flowers in those places but its likely. Do fruits appear after flowers bloom even if you only contributed a little bit to the bloom? I can clarify but I want to see if there's any deeper knowledge in this area
