Oatchi just a better version of our captain?

Ok so with oachi being able to do everything we do, and more with swimming and such isnt he just a better captain? He can be trained and get upgrades aswell. Im not tpo worried about it but it does make me think that after ive fully buffed oatchi when i split them up and have to use the captain who will have less abilities and do the same thing. Will the captain feel like weaker and underwhelming to use compared to oatchi?
