Hey all, I'm a little out of the loop with what's available at the moment. My pixel 5 is aging and is now at the point where I typically need to charge during the day. This isn't a bad thing tbh, I've been waiting for it to age as after the Android 12 update with the massive UI changes, I find myself hating it.

I can't stand the wasteful aesthetic - to me the pills in the quick settings, the static asymmetrical 'at at glance' widget and the reworked settings menu are ugly and dysfunctional, so I'm looking for something with a more minimalistic look (similar to the old Nexus and pixel look). Pretty much if I look at it and don't recoil because I think it's permanently got kids mode on, I'll compromise on most other things. So my one firm requirement on my next phone is it can't follow the pixel 6/7 design cues.

The negotiable "wants" are.

• call screening

• not larger than my pixel 5

• physical fingerprint sensor (either side or rear mounted). An under screen I likely won't use (I didn't when I had an S10 because it was akward to reach).

• 3.5mm Jack

• USB C port

• wireless charging

• flat screen (eg no curved edges)

• dual sim

I should also say that I'm US based but open to importing if the best options aren't available domestically. I think that Samsung have maintained their typical UI, which imo was the worst pre android 12, so it's a bit strange for me to come to terms with them being now the nicest due to everyone else self sabotaging, but if they're it then I'll likely end up going back to Samsung.
