Is it better to buy a Nexus 5x or wait for the release of new phones?

I currently have a Huawei smartphone which is working just fine. I dont really have a good reason to change my phone other than the fact that I can now afford a fancier phone. I was thinking about buying a good brand phone around 300 euros. The phone must run atleast Anrdoid 6.0 and must be upgrade able to the latest OS. It will be a plus if the phone has fancy new features like ?VR? but its not really a hard requirement. Should I buy the nexus 5x or wait for the release of new phones? I need your opinions as I dont really know anything about the latest phones.
