Tired of my carrier, picking out new phones - help me choose between the Galaxy S III and the Google Nexus.
Post Body

Note: I live in Canada.

I ran some numbers today and figured out just how much I've been paying for my wife and I to have cell phones - only one a smartphone - that we barely use, where I've avoided paying $8 a month to get call display, that are outdated...and it's ridiculous! The last straw was getting a letter from my carrier apologizing for a mistake - they forgot to charge me $5.50 and will add it to my next bill.

Looking at how we do use our phones, I've been seriously considering a plan with mobilicity that will lower my monthly bill by $20 a month, even after paying for the phones. But which phones? I'm new to smartphones, but having enjoyed an android tablet the last couple months, eager to give them a try. The likely options are the Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy S III phones. Both look good, but the S III is clearly better. But is it $170 better? That's the price difference. I'm not that interested in getting an S4 - while I've heard great things, I just don't have the money to burn. But could the April release mean a sale on the S III? Should I wait until then? Is it worth the money to upgrade to the S III, or better to buy the cheaper Nexus (not the LG Nexus 4, to be clear).

I'm new to all of this, so advice is appreciated.

UPDATE: I went with the Google Nexus 4. It was delivered yesterday. It had no problem being used on Mobilicity's network and so far is a lot of fun to play with, very responsive and pretty. I'm now having fun downloading apps. Thank you!
