It seems like Koreans are taking the controversy of the final quest very seriously which seems different to how Americans would react if it was an American production. I feel like we are so jaded here in the West. Reality shows are kind of known as the shadiest of the shady when it comes to show biz here, so if it were to happen on an American show, I feel like we'd just shrug our shoulders and be like "aw that's lame, but that's show biz I guess", and move on. Glad to see Koreans are demanding some integrity.
Man I was thinking similar thoughts. I can’t stand reality tv but I knew Physical 100 was right up my alley. I was more surprised by how the contestants conducted themselves in such a competitive environment. Regardless of results, they held respect at a high the entire time. Even when they tried to show some kind of toxic banter it was still so mellow. I know respect is deeply woven into the Korean culture but to see it in action during competition like this one really blew my mind. That’s when I knew that this show wouldn’t hold up even closely well in any western countries like USA or Australia. Even if the public doesn’t win this battle, the integrity of the show will carry on because the demand for an honest portrayal will be met and I really hope it does open the door for a season two. Production gets redemption and we get more entertainment.
