I've never had a traumatic event that caused it or any real encounters beyond normal bugs that are common to the mid western USA in the summer time. But I have a huge fear of bugs all of them. It's not so bad as to be crippling or preventing me from going outside but when it triggers it can take a long time for me to feel relaxed again. Just now coming home I had a "June bug" hit and land on me as I walked in the door I swatted it away and now I'm pacing around my kitchen as I write this with with feeling that something is crawling on me when nothing is there. Some bugs are excepted from my fear as well like the ones I'm sure can't hurt me like butterflies but other than things like that even common flies can freak me out. I thing I get this from my mother who has a horrible fear of spiders and will actually faint over them. I'm not that bad but to compromise my fear is much broader. I don't know what to do. I know many have it far worse than me but I still have to deal with this phobia every year especially in the summer. I don't know how much help I can get but it feels nice to write this all out and get it off my chest. Thanks for reading.
