My wife and I had our date night but it's raining so we just decided to stay home and eat pizza. She's become obsessed with Judge Judy so we watched some of her episodes and she asked me if it's normal for American exes to sue one another when things don't work out. I told her, not in my experience and she asked me why someone would sue an ex over a small thing and that got me thinking. Yeah, why?
I couldn't imagine suing an ex over a petty thing; the worse the break up the more grateful I was to have her out of my life. Why would I continue to subject myself to an irritant just to get back at her and possibly get a small amount of money? I remember one particular ex, the UP graduate I mentioned before, was so insufferable I decided one day to just take what I could carry and leave everything else to her (even though I bought it) and get out of that apartment. Money and things can be replaced, my sanity cannot.
I thought maybe it was a chick thing but now I'm seeing more and more men doing this nonsense.
Can anyone shed some light on this??
I think an entitled attitude plays a big part in that line of thinking.
