American here, been traveling to Manila once or twice a year every year for the last 20 years. Yup....I come back mainly for the friends I've made, great and affordable massages and the odd trip to the provinces to sightsee. Yet there are a few things I still haven't gotten used to. 1) When waiters/waitresses say "excuse me" but only want to put the dish you ordered on the table. When I hear "excuse me" I think someone wants my complete attention or I'm blocking someone from walking. 2) In hotels I stay at, the constant greetings by all the staff from your room all the way down to the lobby and out the door. In both instances, people are expecting a reaction from me and many times I'm just too tired to respond, yet feel bad for not reacting. I'm not expecting anyone to change for me. I'm just sharing my reaction to things.
