Should we shrink the size of the government?
Post Body

We obviously have a BIG government. (See the reference below)

We have a State-interventionist system of economy, whatever that means. Kailangan gawin ng gobyerno to, kailangang gawin ng gobyerno yan. Tax dito, tax doon, regulate dito, regulate doon. But have you ever thought that maybe the government is too intrusive, or more precisely, maybe it is handling more than it suppose to handle?

Ang nature kasi ng mga governments is that they are inefficient in almost anything. So kapag hawak na nila lahat, well, you can only imagine. Plus, maybe ito rin talaga yung rason kaya di matapos tapos ang corruption na yan. The bigger the operation of the government, the more people and money needed for operation, and thus a wider room for corruption.

To give you an example: Nainis ka na rin ba sa bagal ng internet? Malamang, oo. Alam mo ba na isa sa mga dahilan kaya mabagal ang internet ay dahil masyadong maraming requirements ang kailangang i-submit ng mga Telcos bago sila makapagpatayo ng panibagong cellsite? Apparently, there is this law signed during the admin of FVR requiring telcos to submit all these paperworks. And why until now we only have 3 Telcos anyway? Correct, you guessed that right, requirements on top of requirements. Paperworks on top of paperworks bago makapagsimulang mag-operate man lang.

Ito rin yung dahilan kung bakit nadidiscourage yung mga foreign investors na mag-invest dito satin kasi ayon sa kanila "The rules are too tight"

Also, yung mga nakakaiinis na pamba block ng NTC sa mga sites. Who are they to dictate which sites you wanna visit and which articles you can and cannot read? Well, they're the government, they can restrict whichever sites they choose to restrict.

Another one is yung binabalak na Mandatory ROTC. Who are they to coerce me if I don't want anything to do with the military, not even becoming a Reserve Officer? Again, they're the government.

All in all, hindi ko sinasabing we don't need the government regulations ha, obviously we do but... the government should be less encroaching perhaps?

Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe our government isn't so big after all, maybe it's just the right size.

Please share your thoughts. I'm well aware that there are people in here who are way more knowledgeable in this topic, and maybe can articulate my point better. Healthy discussions lang please.

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have"

(This is not the most brief and succinct explanation, but it's the best I could find on the net)
