Is there a correlation between people graduating from prestigious schools and obtaining higher positions in an office (government/private)?

Based lang naman to sa observation ko.. But most people I know who are in middle/upper management tend to come from prestigious schools (Big 4) or had an education overseas. They also seem to be the ones who get to climb the corporate ladder really quick.
Sa palagay nyo, why such people get such opportunities more?
