I believe we are one of the few countries that do not adequately prepare for storms. I have personally witnessed how Hong Kong and Taiwan prepare for storms—all establishments display signs warning of the impending storm. They board up windows with plywood and close businesses 2-3 days before the storm's arrival. In contrast, our preparedness measures are often lacking.
While the government plays a significant role in disaster preparedness, private individuals and businesses must also contribute. For instance, when a storm is forecasted to hit the Philippines, businesses should allow employees to take leave or work from home, especially considering the severe flooding in Metro Manila.
