Not sh1tting on the event planners and the people responsible for the event though i do wish na they anticipated the amount of people that would attend and made some changes to accommodate the number of event goers.
I didn't go to last year's LoveLaban or Pride March in QC because i attended the one by MMPRIDE in Makatiโ i think having only one Pride March might've also been a reason as to why this year's LoveLaban2 became more congested than last year but let's be honest; the main reason might've been those who only went for their "favorite" artist(s).
Going to this year's Pride March was not worth the overstimulation, heat, sweat, etc. It was hard to move around and was most definitely difficult to enjoy but I don't know! maybe that's just me.
It was, however- somewhat liberating and fun seeing protestors and people who joined the march and supported the movement fight for what we were there for. May it be the Free Palestine, or Atin ang West Philippines Sea, Trans Rights, etc. It was nice seeing people collectively chanting and marching for these social issues.
What took the fun out of most of this was seeing and hearing snarky, homophobic, transphobic, kanal remarks at the event goers. I heard someone say "Oh yung alaga mo" while pointing at LGBTQ People having fun; There was also an added fear due to knowing that there are those people who are truly against pride/lgbtq roaming around the event. Asaan ang safe space??
I opted to just watching the Live Broadcast in PridePH's facebook but the secondhand embarrassment and frustration came in due to the homophobic remarks and people saying thigs like:
"Asan na (artist)? tapos na ba sila?" "Matagal pa ba (artist)?"
and other similar things. While we are not gatekeeping the event and such, it would've been nice to see some type of respect or support to the movement and pride itself rather than just mouthing their favorite artist's name. Yan lang ba kaya niyong sabihin?
Ewan ko ha- this is just my opinion but LoveLaban2 was not worth it and might've just been the worst, or at least MY worst Pride Event yet.
