Hello everybody! Foreigner here asking for help. I try to make this explanation quick as possible: Im living in Batangas in a small barangay (max. 500 people) near to the ocean. First of all I love your country and I always felt safe here bc people help each other out, if you need something. There was never a reason to lock the door or to feel unsafe here. We always had a very good community here. Unfortunately this feeling changed since two weeks. Why? In my barangay and other ones ( - 5km) there are unknown people roaming around knocking the doors of the houses in the middle of the night. When they see somebody coming near them from outside they disappear in the jungle without a flashlight and it’s easy for them to disappear bc they see the people who try to catch them bc of their flashlights. First conclusion: they are experienced in running very fast through the jungle by night. Second conclusion: they knocked around 15 different doors at different houses in different barangays so far we know. Mostly when women were alone because their husbands had work somewhere or were out still drinking with their friends. Third conclusion: they have never stolen something or hurt anybody. Fourth conclusion: strangers have been seen here in the beginning of the darkness (~ 7pm) wearing black dresses like a priest would do in white. When they come near to people on the streets they try to hide their faces and got very scared. Max 5 people got observed together. When they knock the doors they are mostly alone. Maximum three observed. Listen - I’m a very rational guy. What drives me crazy is: I don’t know wtf they want. They could have stolen something easily. They could have entered the houses easily without anybody noticing. So what is their incentive??? That’s why I’m reaching out to this group for help! Has anybody heard about something similar in the past? Is there a cult or sect which believes in doing something during Holy Week or what is this all about to scare the people here? I’m feeling very sorry for everybody here especially the women. Every help is appreciated <3 Thank you!
