Student that apparently got accepted to 30 international universities with P106M as merit scholarship: Allegedly false?

So, I think most of us have seen the student who went viral because of his incredible acceptance to various international schools and grants for scholarships. Now, a lot of people are questioning the legitimacy of the matter. Some students who are, allegedly, schoolmates of the student claim that the acceptance and scholarships are nothing but nonsense.
No one has confirmed or denied the legitimacy of this case. What’s your thoughts regarding this?
