Idk if it's just a coincidence or what. I used to received a lot of spam sms, which my phone blocks immediately but never spam calls. I registered my sim before holy week, and suddenly, I've been getting a lot of spam calls (base sa log history, I first received it on April 3, which is during holy week). Lagi pang 0917 853 xxxx (the last four digits vary). I know it can be telemarketer (my CC does it a lot, offering me Cash2Go service with lower interest rate than usual), but ang sussy kase nong pare-pareho ang first seven digits, whereas previous telemarketers are using different numbers.
I told my brother about it, and apparently, they're bogus BPI agent daw. Muntik na siyang mabiktima once, buti alerto siya dahil tinatanong daw kung magkano ang CC limit niya for confirmation lang daw. I also did a quick Google search, and yup, merong lumabas.
Now this is the real question: I have NO BPI account nor had any previous attempts to make an account with them, so assuming this is fraudulent BPI agent scheme, where did they get my details?
And that led me to the conclusion that it must be because I registered my sim. After all, it makes no sense. Mahigpit ang security ng phone ko, and I don't click random links nor visit random websites. Heck, kahit nga pirated manga site, hindi ko na binibisita ever since I became a working professional four years ago, so it makes no sense na mayroon leakage ng data ko via those links.
Anyone else who have a similar experience?
