I, a fairly young American that spends much of my time in the Philippines, am constantly witness to the most wretched instances of a foreigner dating/married to a very young Filipino lady/girl. They're usually an old, ignorant, right-wing, divorced, bigot, looking for a desperate teenager to exploit. I could go on and on, but I won't.

Through all that, I still see some glimmers of hope and beauty. Once at a popular restaurant I saw a local Filipina woman and an American - both probably in their 70's, eating dinner. They hugged each other, helped package leftovers in bags, and talked quietly to each other the whole time. They were adorable. Two tables over were some fat, rich Filipino men who were chugging beers and bragging about all the local college students they were "paying for". Eventually they couple finished their meal, and walked back to their home, holding hands the whole way.
