I hate losing items when you die.

Mostly I just hate ghost hunts entirely, but I could skip complaining about how they ruin my willing suspension of disbelief because ghosts aren't real, so ghosts that can kill you make no sense, or how they ruin the pace of an otherwise engaging investigation game where they either kill you in one hit (often in crappy situations or without much warning) or you manage to hide from it or loop it and you're stuck sitting there or running in circles until it finally decides to give up, or how weird and gamey it feels to use Smudge Sticks...

...except that when it kills you, you lose all of your items, too.

But you still get to keep half your paycheck...?

It would be more lucrative to hop in with basic tools and try to take as many pictures as possible before the ghost kills you, rather than ever bringing more advanced tools to actually make determining the ghost type easier. And yeah, I could set the Custom Difficulty to not lose items, but then I'm stuck with a x0.00 multiplier, and worst of all I can't complete daily/weekly challenges.

While it would be nice if you got maybe a tiny multiplier for your reward (even x0.01) when using Don't Lose Items (maybe only if you live), we should at least be able to complete Daily/Weekly Challenges so that even at x0.00 rewards from the mission itself, we can still make slow progress over time if we choose to play with Don't Lose Items turned on.

I completed the latest weekly challenge run(s), and it provides you with a free kit, meaning you don't have to worry about dying while doing challenge runs, but you still get the full reward when you complete it. It would be nice to be able to set up similar challenges for myself and not have to worry about losing items while trying to complete them (especially at extreme difficulty settings otherwise), while still getting at least SOME reward if I do manage to survive.

(Also, I'm actually unsure how you would complete a zero evidence run when the ghost never hunts you, so if you could manage to complete such a challenge, I think that should also be worth some points, but whatever...)

tl;dr: I really enjoy using the gadgets to collect evidence and investigate the ghosts. I don't enjoy ghost hunts, but mostly I hate losing all my items when you die. It would be nice if we could use Custom Difficulty to not lose items on death and still be able to complete Daily and Weekly Challenges.

inb4: "Just get good, and then you won't die, bro." I know that. I just want the option to play more casually than having to go full tryhard or full x0.00 rewards just to avoid the stress of losing items when the ghost inevitably catches me.

Do the critical self analysis and reflection thing each time you die. Why did you die? What could you do differently next time to survive?

Eh. It's better to determine why you die, so you can avoid the sam3 error in the future. What you suggest, teaches players nothing.
