Hi!I just want to share my happines. I'm a first year PhD student. Before I even enroled I said to myself that it doesn't matter if I don't finish in three years (it's a three year program), I just wanna finish. I also don't think grades matter as long as I pass the subjects. But I sure am happy for great grades, who wouldn't be. I got my first grade in PhD program and it's a best possible one - a 10 (I'm from Europe), like an A in American system.
The subject is Research Data Analysis and we had to do two reasearches: one was in Matlab that I had no prior knowledge and one was in SPSS that I already knew from my Masters program. In Matlab I wrote a code with 2000 lines in a Script (comments included) - it's lots of simple stuff, told the proffesor I was "playing" with the program and "got to know it". I know I just coverd a small portion of the basis but I'm also proud of my work because of the progress I made. And apparently so is the professor.
I just wanted to share my joy with you all. Hahaha if I'm that happy now, let's just wait for the first accepted article.
