I'd like to take advantage of the fact that reddit is dominantly american to get a reality check. I am a Western European working on a phd in applied maths in some renowned institution in my country with a mechanical engineering degree from a selective program. My dream plan for the future is to work in postdoc in the USA to experience the professional culture there (I've already lived there for a bit) and if I am satisfied by it, try to get a job in industrial research. (When I say industry, I am not aiming to specifically work in FAANG or tech, it could be aerospace or anything else) Do you think that it would be realistic with the current state of things?
