Publication of an "Accepted Paper"

Post Body

I recently had a paper accepted for publication. During the submission process I was asked whether I wanted the accepted manuscript published online within 24 hours of acceptance. I was offered various reasons why this would be beneficial to me such as early access to the paper for other researchers etc.

My issue is that the unformatted pdf just seems to have been slapped on the journal website with little regard, and the associated metadata has been sloppily prepared. The title has incorrect capitalisation (for a word where it really matters), the author affiliations are incomplete and incorrect, and the abstract contains a lot of nonsense mark-up like escape characters and superfluous control characters. Now the paper has been indexed in other databases (google scholar, researchgate etc.) with this erroneous information.

First impressions matter, and I feel like the issues I've described will have an impact. I'm disappointed with this process. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Edit: The content I provided to the journal was correctly formatted and error free. All affiliations were correct in my submitted LaTEX files. The errors I described were introduced by the journal, and I was not given an opportunity to proofread the title/abstract/affiliations before they posted the accepted manuscript.
