I have questions about homemade cat food, and there is way too much conflicting information out there!
Post Body

Our 6-month-old kittens have been eating grain-free Weruva brand wet entrees since they were old enough to eat solid food. They were in foster care before we adopted them, and that's what their foster mom fed them. We have continued to feed them these same entrees, rotating their proteins, since we brought them home at the beginning of October. Our 15-month-old cat also eats these same entrees, but we have to mix in a little dry food to entice him to eat them. Since he was fed only crappy dry food at the shelter we got him from, he refuses to eat wet food alone. We use Blue Buffalo adult formula dry food for him. All of them get occasional raw chicken hearts as treats. We are very controlling and careful about what and how much they eat.

Recently, the kittens have developed some stomach issues and can only tolerate plain boiled meat and rice. Even their high-quality, grain-free wet food causes vomiting and diarrhea. Our vet has told us that we need to keep them on this bland diet, but didn't seem to have a whole lot of information about what sort of supplements we need to add and in what quantities they need to be added.

I have been searching the internet, to no avail. It's very difficult to wade through the vast sea of dissenting opinions. I have no veterinary knowledge, and I certainly don't want to make the wrong decision for our little boys.

As we like to rotate proteins, I'd really like to develop a seafood, a chicken/chicken heart/chicken liver, and a beef/lamb formula that I can mix with a little rice and puree in a blender for the kittens. Does anyone do this, and do you have recipes? How much taurine do you add? Are there other supplements that need to be added?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
