I have an older cat, who just turned four, and a kitten who is 10 months old. They are both neutered males and are UTD on their shots, etc. They used to play with each other, groom each other, and sleep curled up with each other. Within the last week, my cat has started to hiss at my kitten every time he initiates play. I'm concerned with the sudden change, and am wondering if my cat could possibly be sick or injured. My cat has terrible anxiety and stress at the vet, so I'd rather not take him just based on my hunch. Does anyone have a possible explanation for his behavior? Thanks!
EDIT: Here's a picture of them in happier times.
