Hello all.
My name is Michael and I'm looking for some input from my fellow redditors in regards to adopting two kittens.
To help provide some additional context to this, here are some other details about me and my situation:
1.) I have never raised cats before, but I have been around adult cats and kittens before. 2.) I live in my apartment with my girlfriend and her hedgehog. She is willing to live with cats as well, so long as we can make sure they don't bother the hedgehog. 3.) Given my work schedule, I am not home during the week like I use to be.
With all of that info to begin with, what I'm looking for in the way of advice is the following:
1.) For someone who has never raised cats before, does two sound reasonable or should I just raise one kitten? 2.) The reason I looking for two kittens is so that they each have each other when my girlfriend or I are not at home. Does that sound fair to the kittens? 3.) For a potential first time owner, would it better to have kittens or to have an adult cat?
The reason I am going for cats is because, while I really like dogs, I can't have a dog at my place because I don't have a yard, and I want to be able to give the pet the best possible environment that I can, giving my living situation.
Another question that came up is, when is the best time to have the kittens fixed? I want to make sure that I give them enough time to properly develop.
Lastly, what should I be aware of going into this type of pet situation? Any thing to be aware of when raising kittens or just adopting a adult cat?
I would really appreciate any input as I want to make sure that if I am going to be committing to another life, that I can ensure they will have the best environment that I can provide within my means.
Thanks everyone!
