6 Years and 11 months old girl. Still young. Still had much more to live for. And was by far, the prettiest Lhasa Apso I’ve ever seen.
You were with us since you were 3 months’ old. Super shy at first, but soon fit in like a glove. Always bouncing around, forever excited to meet new people.
Until 5 days ago.
On Thursday, you wagged your tail as I came home, ate your food and slept. The usual routine, nothing amiss.
On Friday, you weren’t at the door. You were lying on your bed, tail still wagging. You refused to eat. Something was definitely amiss.
On Saturday, you couldn’t walk properly. You didn’t eat. Something was wrong. First visit to the vet, nothing confirmed. We had new medicine for you, but you didn’t eat much.
On Sunday, you were very weak. But you managed to eat a little between vomiting. You were slanted as you walked. We called in for an emergency appointment for tomorrow morning.
On Monday, we carried you to the vet. You were weak, couldn’t move. It broke our heart to see you like that. We were assured that your vitals were good, and you were not in no immediate danger. Stronger meds, and then sent home.
On Tuesday morning, you got a lot worse. You can’t hold your own weight, when we supported you, you went in circles.
On Tuesday afternoon, you had a stoke. Rushed you to the vet. Heart stopped once. Then restarted. Then it stopped again. There was a pulse, but no heartbeat.
It is now Tuesday night, it is raining. Your cremation is set for tomorrow morning. It will be the last time we can see you.
Every time I walk out of my room, I look around to see where you are. Then I remember.
I miss you. You were supposed to come home. You were supposed to get better.
But now, I’ll see you at the Rainbow Bridge.
