I had to say goodbye to my friend today, Leonidas. He was 7, going on 8, and had FIV. For the past couple of months we were fighting through an infection and seemed like he was strong and wanted to keep going. This recent week, he took a turn. First he stopped eating. Then he had pain issues in his mouth. We took him to surgery to remove the abscesses, but he just never recovered. I took him in for his last visit a couple of hours ago. I had a good friend with me there for moral support, and it honestly meant the world to me. She's the greatest. I've been crying all day since and looking at old photos of him, wanting to remember him as the healthy him, the one that was so full of energy and loved to headbutt me, find a sunbeam to lay in, or hop up on my pc and hit my power button as I was playing games. We only knew each other for a short 4 years, but they were the greatest 4 years ever buddy and I'll cherish them forever. I love you always.
