Hey all, I hate doing ab exercises and have been hearing conflicting opinions on social media about what the best exercises are. For instance, I hear that farmer carries are best for functional core strength, which I am looking for overall (eventual visible abs are extra benefit).
For those of you that have visible abs, what's your body fat percent and what exercises have worked for you?
I am a masters bikini pro. I won my pro card at my first competition this year.
Abs are revealed when you cut enough fat in a caloric deficit.
I don’t train abs specifically but mine are very defined due to lifting heavy when I work all the other muscle groups.
For instance my abs are always sore after chest day when I’ve pushed myself to failure doing bench press, or after back day when I’ve pushed myself to failure doing pull ups and straight arm pullovers.
Any one-legged leg exercises force you to stabilize your core, like split squats.
I can see my abs most of the time even when I’m bulking because I’ve trained for years and I try to do lean bulks. But they really don’t come out in full until I’m cutting for a competition.
