Discouraged by starting point
Post Body

Did anyone else find themselves discouraged at the beginning of their journey?

I’ve just started my fitness/gym journey and I’m actually loving working out so far, which is something I did not expect to enjoy so much.

But that means I’ve also been spending time online, researching exercises and fitness standards etc. And I’ve started to find myself feeling really discouraged.

For example, I’ve been reading that the average 30 year old female should be able to do 28 consecutive pushups- I can only manage 5 half way ones. Leg pressing should be at least your body weight, I’m starting on 45kg.

It feels like I’m so, so far away from even reaching those minimal standards, and gives me a few ‘why bother’ thoughts flowing through my mind.

Did anyone else feel like this when starting out? Where you able to eventually build your strength? How long did it take?
