I wore a dress for a work event that I haven’t tried on for over a year. The dress completely covers your body from neck to below your knees and the sleeves go down to your wrist. But it was a lot more form fitting than a remember.
A lot of my colleagues complimented my body, one person pointed out my “lower body” (iykwim), and another person said they wished they had my body type (this comment esp made me feel bad because I’m still really insecure about my body).
We’re a super close organization and we’re 99% women so none of this was offensive, we’re all friends.
I normally wear really baggy clothes and loose drawstring pants so you can never make out my body shape. But people pointing out my body in this dress made me feel so uncomfortable for some reason? Like I work so hard for my body, I should want people to recognize it?
Sometimes I wonder what I work out for if I’m not ever going to be comfortable with others perceiving my body. Does anyone else feel the same?
