I remember when there was a time years ago when I would do one hike or one run and be completely wrecked for the next day or two.

Recently I did the same hike I remember struggling with so much in the past and it just seemed so EASY!!! I went up so much faster and it wasn't even that hard. I even went for a run after the hike because I still had so much in me. Then the next day, I wasn't even that tired and I am craving more movement and excercise to challenge me. I'm fueling myself properly for these activities (more carbs) and just letting myself eat until my hunger is gone after I'm done. I'm finding that eating and sleeping enough is allowing me to recover much faster and hence be ready to get out there again sooner. In the past, the day after, I would just be crippled and not be able to do anything because I was so sore. Now I can just keep going.

I've learned that there is a time and place for different areas of focus in my fitness journey. While I used to focus more on fatloss and becoming more lean (nothing wrong with that), I've changed my perspective. What I learned about myself if that I love to MOVE. I love being outdoors and I want to get faster, go longer distances, have better performance doing the activities that I love. I'm prioritizing injury prevention strengthening, stretching, physical therapy, eating enough, and anything else that will allow me to get better at doing the activities that I love.
