Fat gain or water retention?

From yesterday to today, my thighs have just ballooned. I eat at a deficit, exercise daily and I was feeling really great. But today, I've noticed that my thighs have swollen so much, they look like how they did before I lost weight.

I didn't train legs today or yesterday (just deadlift for pull) so can't explain it away with exercise causing swelling.

My period finished a day ago, so hormones can't be it either.

I'm at a loss, really, would really appreciate someone telling me whether it's possible to gain like that overnight?
