It's usually girls in their early 20's. Who are you clicking at??? Clap like a normal person!
It shouldn't annoy me as much as it does.... But damn it ruins the celebration.
I recite my poetry in public, and there seems to be this awkward uncertainty among the crowds, as to whether they should snap or clap.
And sometimes there are other poets doing emotionally heavy poems, and I just find snapping to really undermine the solemnity of the baring of the soul.
A big part of me wants to preface the night by telling the crowds, "If you enjoy the poems, clapping sure is an encouragement to me. But if you don't like the poems, go ahead and give me the silent treatment and I'll learn from it!" And that way, I've taken the snapping option right off the table.
I agree. In most cases where clapping is the norm, snapping will often come across as (at least a little) rude to me.
You can't do other things with your left hand? Only snap?
Or did you mean to say you can snap with only your left hand? If that's what you meant, I also (though a right-hander) have lots of things I can do with only my left hand.
