Dog bite and animal control

I have 2 dogs that recently wondered up to my house. Great dogs, and I tried but was unable to find their previous owner (I think they were abandoned).

Anyway, one of them bit me today on accident (they were fighting over food). The bite itself isn’t bad at all, but it did break the skin.

I went to the ER only because I didn’t know if the dogs had previously had their shots or not.

So what can I expect? I want to keep the dogs. What is your experience with animal control?

I live in the US if that matters
