Advice for Cat Owner
Post Body

I have an 8 year old cat who has started leaving her droppings outside of the litter box a few feet away. I read that maybe her litter box is not clean enough so I started cleaning it twice a day instead of once a day-- that didn't fix it. I read that as some cats age they choose to start leaving droppings in other places that is separate from where they urinate ( she still urinates only in the main litter box). There has been no change to her food, no change to her litter, no new pets, no changes to her bathroom environment in the last year. I even bought her a second litter box and left it in the area where she is choosing to leave her droppings, and still every morning when I go in to the area to clean her litter box there are new droppings beside the second litter box, not in it.

Please someone help. I'm more frustrated than I am trying to resolve the issue and nothing seems to work and I'm tired of having to sweep up droppings that could easily just be left in the litter box.

If it matters she's a tortoiseshell Calico, spayed 8 years d.,
