Hi All, this may seem like a obvious question to some but i just want to clarify. So my partner and I moved into a fixed term flat 17/10/21 to the 30/11/22 paying $440 per week every Friday. Initially we had paid two week rent in advance ($880) from 18-31st October 2021. We have now agreed to continue living at the same with the rent increasing on 2 April to $460 pw as our lease has now turned into periodic.
However, the landlord states that the we have to pay rent in advance increase of $40 for the two weeks in advance? i would've thought we would only need to pay the $460 on the 31st of March as that would cover the upcoming change in rent? or am I reading this wrong?
Or, are they looking to make us pay $40 on the spot and then $440 per week for the weeks 31st March and 7th April - and then each week after just paying $460 per week?
