Purchases above credit card limit with RBC Westjet Elite Mastercard?

So I just got approved for the RBC Westjet Elite card, but as a newcomer with a low credit score I only got a 2500$ limit.

We are moving to a new place and looking to buy a lot of new things (bed, TV, sofa etc.) and I want to put as much as possible on the card. We are looking to spend around 8000$.

Question:

If I make a payment now of 6000$ to the card, can I make all the purchases without issue? AND if I wanted to by say a sofa for 3200$ would my card be accepted when I make the purchase and my balance on the card is negative 6000$?

Am I correct in assuming that if I "Prepay" the amount I will use, it will not affect my utilization rate?
