Hey everyone, so, I’ve had this Capital One Secured Guaranteed MasterCard with an annual fee of $59/yr. It’s actually my second oldest credit card on my credit history but I literally hate this card.
I initially got it when I was rebuilding a previous low credit score I used to have. Suffice to say, my credit score is in great shape as of today. I’ve tried calling Capital One to see if I can at least switch it to a $0 annual fee credit card but they’ve previously told me I can’t do that. I now only use this card to pay for my monthly Nest doorbell subscription and that’s it.
I really want to close this card but I’m very afraid that it might impact my credit history since it’s my second oldest card. For reference, my oldest card is from 2010 and this Capital One card is from 2014.
Just seeking some friendly advice as to what anyone else would do if you were in my shoes? Keep the card? Or cancel it? What would be the smartest move here? Also, I have 4 other credit cards that I use and have a perfect history with them so, having this as a fifth card is genuinely useless but I’ve kept it around because again, it’s the second oldest that I have.
