Can anyone share their experiences or preferred credit cards for travelling to the U.S.?
I'm travelling to the US for two weeks in May and I was curious about good travel credit cards. I don't travel often (I'm only travelling for a medical procedure) but I wanted to take advantage of good travel rewards and get travel insurance and get a credit card that has no foreign transaction fee. My annual income as a student is $40K.
Currently, I'm interested in:
- Special offer of earning up to 45,000 scene pts
- No foreign trans fees
- 8 types of travel insurance (my main focus is travel medical emergency)
- Earn up to 70,000pts (50,000 20,000)
- 10x pts on eligible travel purchases within 6 months (im booking a flight for 2 people in May)
- $100 annual travel credit offer
- Multiple travel insurance offered
Also, when using AMEX, are foreign transaction fees only charged when purchases are made in the U.S. or do they also charge for purchases made within Canada? (apologies if its a dumb question, I haven't used AMEX before so I'm not sure how foreign transactions are charged)
I'm also interested in getting a separate prepaid card/credit card for making smaller purchases in the US that have no ATM fees/no FX fees. If anyone has any experience or recommendations, please feel free to share!
