One of my friends owed me a little money and said he can only pay me back on the Wealthsimple app... I have heard of them before and know they are a legit trading platform so I accepted. Relatively easy process to sign up, and my friend sent me the money as promised.
Trying to get money out of that app is where the fun started. Trying to link my regular bank account would result in endless errors... tried multiple times on different days with no success. So I had to manually link my account by sending over a picture of cheque. After 4 weeks... nothing.
Emailed customer service to request account closure and was told I cannot close account without withdrawing the funds first, but I couldn't withdraw funds as they refused to link my account so I request they expedite linking my account. After 1 week I hear nothing. So I finally replied and said I will file BBB complaint... literally within 5 minutes i get this reply. So I ask where did my money go and shockingly this was the reply! So now they accuse of me of not providing the right documets (literally picture of void cheque which I submitted on their app) and "wrote off" MY MONEY with no permission. The agent then closes the ticket so I can't even reply anymore.
What an absolute joke of a place. Customer service has more attitude than an emo teenager. I would not put my money into Wealthsimple.
