I'm so glad this sub exists!
Anyway, I moved from Ontario to BC last year to find a new life. I had a job transfer set up with my employer and I took a leave of absence, moved across the country, taking a few months off to get settled in and just generally enjoy living in a new place.
The job transfer ended up falling through and I was not able to find new employment for the remainder of 2015. I'll be starting a new job shortly this year though. I understand that moving expenses can only be used toward earnings made after your move. Am I still able to claim them, despite not finding new employment in 2015, and can they be carried forward? Or do I have to wait until filing for 2016 to claim... or am I SOL on this one? Moving 4500 km was expensive and it'd be nice to get something back out of it.
Thank you!
