Hello! I’ve done a lot of research about this but i’m hoping i could find better answers here. I’m a dancer and I opened a sole proprietorship as i make over 30k a year, free lance, and have expenses.
My issue is that businesses making >30k must collect and remit GST/HST, i make a flat rate on dances and can’t up charge to cover it. I’m wondering if I’ll have to pay this out of pocket?
To prove where my income comes from since I make 100% only cash, my friend suggested to write invoices to whatever club i work in. The only thing I’m worried about is yes I’m making $ in their establishment but they’re not paying me per se. I actually pay them a fee to work there. But, I can’t invoice every single customer I have.
Is anyone here an accountant in Montreal, Quebec! As much as i’m trying to learn this myself I don’t want to fuck up with the CRA since it’s my first year. I keep track of every penny but just want to make sure i do it right lol.
Any help is greatly appreciated! :)
