I'm a new international student, I've got a cheque of 1600$, My RBC bank deposit a cheque says that I'll get only 100$ for now and the rest of the amount after 5 days, I asked them the reason, they said they hold cheques and I can't get instantly the whole and it is same with other banks too, I checked my Scotia bank app, it says cash back limit is and I can immediately withdraw 1500$, what is this cheque hold, does it apply to Canadians too? Suggest me in which bank should I deposit, RBC or Scotia. Thanks in advance.
