severance package

Hi all, I was just laid off due to work shortage. Have worked for the company for 2 years, and they have offered me a 4 week severance package, plus pay in lieu of notice, as per alberta law. I have been told that I could contact a lawyer and get twice as much of a severance, but I wanted to see if anyone here has been successful with that? Any advice is very welcome. Thanks all!
