Impact of Closing Second Oldest Credit Card?

Post Body

I currently have 5 credit cards and I'm trying to cancel two of them to get down to 3 credit cards. My oldest credit card was opened in 2010 and I have zero plans of closing it for obvious reasons, but my second oldest credit card is about 9 years old now. It's the Capital One Guaranteed Secured MasterCard. I got it back in 2014 when my credit score was bad and was trying to utilize it to increase my credit score.

I'm doing very well with my credit score now and I have zero use for this card. I've even tried calling Capital One Canada to see if I can at least exchange it for a Rewards or Cash Back card, but no dice. I've been hesitant to cancel the card because it's my second oldest credit card and afraid that it may potentially have a big impact on my score.

Does anyone know if I cancel this card, will there be a big impact...or any impact at all to my credit score?

Lastly, how long after should I wait to cancel the next card? Should I wait? Is the 6 month rule true for hard credit checks and closing of credit products? I'm only asking because, whenever I check my credit report, there's always that section where it shows your credit application history and all that.

Thanks in advance!
