So I’m 21 years old going to school and working, I have super cheap insurance with a clean record but I pretty much got brake checked just after a yield sign when I was focused on traffic on the lane I was merging to. No damage to my car and a very small bumper crack to the person I ran into in very low speed. They are okay to have the bumper changed at a mechanic shop I know and not use insurance but it looks like I would have to pay 1.5k to have a brand new bumper replaced and painted (which is almost the total amount I have in this world lol). Should I go with that option or let it go through insurance? I guess I would be found at fault because I hit the car from behind? And is it worth it to pay up now in cash so my insurance wouldn’t go up? Not sure how much my insurance would go up by. I hope I can recover from this as I’m pretty much alone in this world when it comes to finances :( as my family is broke, I don’t even want to tell them about it
