When to use Physical Persona attacks?

Iām new to Persona, and JRPGs in general. Iām unsure when I should use physical Persona attacks (like Giant slice, Vicious Strike, etc.). The only time I can see these of being of benefit is against enemies weak to physical attacks, in which case, I may as well just use a normal attack and not sacrifice HP.
