P5R Nuzlocke Run

Post Body

I've been thinking about doing challenge runs. Things like Arsene only for example. I'm considering doing a Nuzlocke run for my first challenge run. Since I'm not sure if there's any rules that exists specifically for P5R, I've tried to come up with some of my own. So far, the rules I've considered are the following.

  1. Each Palace, you can only capture one shadow. Arsene is like a starter Pokemon, so I wouldn't count him as a capture.
  2. Each section of Mementos I'm considering as it's own unique area since you unlock each part individually. This also gives you the opportunity to some variety and strategy if you know which shadows spawn on what floor.
  3. You can only capture one shadow in the first encounter. If they escape, or all shadows are killed, then you can't capture another shadow for the entire palace or section of Mementos.
  4. Each death of Joker results in having to release the Persona that was active when Joker died and never having access to that Persona again for the remainder of the run. Releasing every Persona results in the end of a run.
  5. You can't overlevel for a palace. That includes shadows and teammates.
  6. No fusions or compendium usage outside of summoning Personas you haven't released due to a Joker death. We only wanna use Personas we find from palaces and Mementos. Plus, dlc Personas are just ridiculously strong and would spoil a Nuzlocke. And fusion items are ridiculous, plus also feels like it goes against the spirit of a Nuzlocke run.
  7. Swapping out Personas is fine when your party is full for other Personas you caught and hadn't have to release due to a Joker death. This is like swapping out Pokemon from boxes in a Nuzlocke.
  8. You can only obtain and use items from battle drops, chests found in palaces, and money spent. Same goes for selling items, you can only sell items found from battles or chests from palaces. Also, no negotiating for extra items or money.
  9. You are allowed to pick up items from chests found in Mementos, but only for the first visit of each floor.
  10. No confidant items or abilities can be obtained or used unless you spend money. That means no Yusuke skill cards or Leblanc coffee and curry. You still can pay for Becky's services, medicine from Takemi, Iwai's gun mods, and Chihaya's fortunes.
  11. No use of Jose's stamps or shop. You could maybe do exp buff to save time, but no items or money buffs. It's also super easy to farm flowers for strong items, so spending flowers is not allowed. Having Jose turn the seeds into crystals is fine due to them being unique obtainable items found in palaces.
  12. Each run starts on a new run on hard mode. There's arguments that you could do it in merciless, but I think the crit multiplier and baton passes makes it easier overall on merciless.
  13. An optional rule is either no use of items in battle, or what items if any. I personally would consider doing either a no items in battle run, or combat only items allowed.

These are the rules I've come up with so far. I basically wanna use Personas and items I collect progressively without a bunch of grinding, and I wanna treat it like a Pokemon Nuzlocke run but for P5R. I wouldn't mind any suggestions.

Also, I've never done anything like streaming or recording videos. I'd consider streaming or recording P5R Nuzlocke runs if there was enough interest. And, I'd have to look into getting better equipment as well as video game capture stuff. I wouldn't mind if other people did this too. It'd make me happy if this post inspires people to make content.
