So long story short, apparently there's 11 acres of Land that belongs to my family, and my mom said that she wanted to sign it over on me and my twin sister, for the future. We're both pretty into preserving the natural wildlife, but haven't got much experience of the practical stuff (yet). There's nothing built on the lands apart from an old shooting range that is never used. In the far future, I can definitely see myself wanting to build a little cabin or something to escape to. The land itself has a lot going for it already, here are some of the things:
*A pretty big patch of wetland, with a creek going through it. The creek is connected to a pretty large watercourse.
*A few patches of forest with trees. Mainly pine but some leaf trees as well.
*Two or three dry meadows containing a lot of rare species of plantlife, apparently.
So, my question to you is: What can I do to invest in the area, to make it healthier? Is constructing a birdlake close to the wetlands a good idea? And how do I care for the dry meadows? And for those in a similar situation, where did you go seeking advice?
All tips are helpful, thank you for your time!
